Well that was a slice! What a trip!
I wrote blog posts in a word app on my other lappy, every day, but there is no way to transfer them to here. So I will just put a little recap at the bottom of each post here with pics for the next while.
Overall it was a very successful trip. Every single one of the 23 people in our group were awesome people. Not one caused any grief or gossip. Great for the trip, not so great for the blog posts!!!
But, I have come home with the knowledge now in my brain that me and Asians are never going to meld well. (sorry bout the grammar there). En masse they operate on a level that brings out the worst in me. Individually, as we met people, they can be friendly and interesting and wonderful individuals. But on the whole, nope, not for me.
When I took the time to really think about it, I think it boiled down to one basic overall trait....me firstism. They would step on their own babies to get on that elevator first, or to the head of a line up, or into that bus/train/plane/boat first. And please, I do not want to be told again that when you live in a country with over a billion people you have to be that way. I get that. Doesn't mean I have to like it.
And another aspect of Asians I can't handle is the noise they make. Now, I am a loud talker type person, but I can't hold a candle to them. They all screech at a thousand decibels all at the same time, sounding like they are killing each other. And the women...what the hell is with their voices? They all sound like they are being stepped on and their nasal passages are being squeezed. You could go deaf if you were there long enough. Hey!!! maybe thats why they are all so loud...they are partly deaf from their own noise!
There were some really good moments with them though. As the days go by here I will post some little incidents and some pics. There were some pretty funny things that happened! Some of them crazy to say the least.
Its good to be back. I forgot to turn the temperature down when I left. What a dummy!!! But was it ever nice to walk into a warm house. In Shanghai it was very warm and perfect...25 degrees. And when we got home around twelve last night, it was snowing!!! I had sandals on and no coat. I really thought it would be full spring here when we got back...NOT!!!
I pick Wrangler up tomorrow morning. I really missed him. Here that crunching gobbling sound? Thats me eating crow.
So now I am going to get my pics sorted out and I shall start posting every day...just a bit about whats happening now and a bit about the trip with pics.
One little tiny story: The first hotel we stayed in was a five star beauty. The lobbies of these hotels are massive chandelier and marble cavernous four story affairs.
The lobby of this first hotel had beautiful huge curving stairs that descended from the high up second floor. Early one morning I was coming down the stairs...and missed seeing that there was one more step. My eyesight and depth perception are not that great. Well, I totally bailed of course. I went down like a two ton Annie, flattened out onto the marble floor. I had the sense to turn my head and not bash my teeth in.
So I lay there for a moment, gathering my wits. Fortunately there was no one up yet and the lobby was empty, except for a frantic freaked out little Asian dude working at the front desk. He came tearing over, squeaking hysterically in Mandarin, and tried to lift me. Yeah, that wasn't happening. I was fine and in a most ungraceful, rump in the air first with body following, hoisted myself up, calmed him down and continued on. I am actually getting used to biting it! (but its on my shovel list) TTYL
