OH NO!!!

I am running out of stuff!  I haven't got anything for today.  There is this whole other bunch of file boxes full of my most precious stuff.  Later today I am going to go through them one by one and see if I can find 25 more things.  I also have a few boxes in the guest bedroom I can bumble through.  I will do that later but in the meantime I need to post.  So much has been happening.

Wed:  I don't remember what happened last Wednesday.  I have to sit here and think for a minute.  That was remembrance day, which is ironic because I don't really remember much about the day.  Kathy did invite me to the park to go see the soldier activities and I declined.  So I am thinking I spent the day on my lap top, watching tv, doing laundry, talking on the phone and never got out of my pj's.  Yup...that is what I did.

Thurs:  Shopping.  My least fave thing or almost.  Costco is still a necessity for toilet paper and dog food.  And I am trying really really hard to not bring home any more food.  I need to empty the cupboards and fridges and freezer before I get more.  I also shop at Safeway.  I love my Safeway.  I haven't been a Safeway shopper for years.  But now that I shop for only me and sometimes Monte and company, I can shop there with no guilt.  I really dislike Superstore (shovel list) and now I can indulge my personal choice.  Actually, I lie.  My least fave thing isn't the shopping, its the bringing it all in and putting away.  (big time shovel list).

I spent quite a bit of time today on my lappy doing business.  That stupid condo in Maui is killing me.  The bank account where all the utility pmts and strata etc come out, is impossible to get into online...I am always guessing how much money is in the account.  Bill always took care of the Maui thing.  Thats all he did business wise in the house and it kept him busy!  Car registration (every six months in the states), car insurance (constantly changing), condo insurance, condo taxes, strata forms twice a year,  condo repairs etc....on and on. Thank goodness he was meticulous in his book and record keeping.  It certainly made it easier for me.

Fri:  My busiest day of them all.  First thing I had to kick the printer around and smack it into line.  Even when I got it to work it still had lines all over the papers.  Aryn, being in Maui, can't sign stuff for me so she emailed it to me.  I printed it (I say so easily), made an appointment with the notary, (again I say so easily)  There were no notaries that could take me right away, not surprising.  I actually started to call on Wed.  I finally had to go back to the one I used, and had difficulty with, before.  You would think they had never heard of mortgage discharges before.  And they all insisted that the payout would have to go into their trust accounts and be dispersed from there.  It just adds to the cost but oh well.

So Friday I started with an appointment at the notary and from there I headed to Bestbuy.  First thing in the morning I googled all the appliance places in town and none of them could beat Bestbuy.  So I careened off over there, hopped into the store and within fifteen minutes bought three appliances...plus five year warranties on all of them.  They were all on sale and Friday just accidentally happened to be tax free day!!!  With the taxes I saved I bought the warranties!  They are all Samsung, and stainless steel.  Fridge, stove and dishwasher.  I am so excited.  They are coming in two weeks.  Sue is coming back, bless her, to finish the water line for the fridge.

From there I went to the bank and transferred money to Maui.  Twelve thousand to get nine Canadian.  Sigh.  I really need to get the place sold.  Then I got home about two, just in time to get a phone call from the notary.  I needed to go back.  So back I went and signed papers blah blah blah.  Back home I prepped all the things to make banana trifle and chicken and dumplings for the pot luck at Kathy's before the dance the next night.

Sat:  I got up early, as usual, and started cooking.  I love love love cooking days.  Its just something I have done since before I can remember.  I made the trifle first.  It involves pudding (made the night before), whipped cream, banana bread and a zillion ripe bananas.  Usually I make the banana bread.  I have a fantastic recipe but I just didn't have time.  So I bought it at Safeway.  And it was beautiful and moist, but, they had added almond extract!!  Ewwwww!!!  I was so disappointed!!  I used it anyway...no choice.

Through all of this there was Molly.  Poor scratchy sick Molly.  She literally chewed a hole in her leg and wouldn't stop.  The fleas were gone but she now had sores.  She needed a cone.  I had a brilliant idea.  I got a large purple cottage cheese container and cut out the bottom and cut it down the side.  I got purple with owls on it duct tape and covered all the edges.  I snapped it on her and duct taped it.  It works like a charm but does she ever look ridiculous!!!!  She is healing though!  I have to spoon feed her and fortunately she can stick her tongue out far enough to drink!  As the days go by she is getting more dexterous with it!

I got Monte to drive me to Kathy's in anticipation of imbibing a little that night and to carry the chicken dumplings.  They were in a costco version of Le Cruiset pot, in other words heavy as hell cast iron.  There were eighteen of us and the pot luck dinner was amazing.  It always seems to work out.  Meatballs, chilli, beans, two salads, buns, chicken dumplings and banana trifle.  Dorothy, bless her, drove a bunch of us to the dance downtown and the others met us there.  Jesus Murphy, did we ever have fun.  The crowd was mostly our age, The Intruders is the band that formed in our high school when I went there, NorKam.  They played at all our dances.  We had sooooo much fun.  I could go on all day here but you guys have been to dances.  You know what I mean.  I think this happens only in smaller towns.  We knew half the people there.  God it was just plain fun.  My stomach hurts from laughing!

Sun:  I puttered about the house digging into various areas, trying to find more crap to get rid of.  I also read a bunch and watched the snow fall. It had started the night before and it was deep!  At five I headed down and picked up Kathy and went down to the first of 36 hockey games.  What a blast!!!  Its just so cool to sit in an arena with three thousand plus people having the time of their life. We beat Prince G. 8 to 3 and we shared a foot long hot dog and a poutine.  What more could one want!

And now today its a little quieter.  Monte is loading up all the cans and I am moving a few things in the garage.  I am parking inside until the snow goes or spring comes...whichever happens first.  Sorry for the overly long epistle!  I shall go find stuff to get rid of.  I need 24 more!  TTYL
RIGHT AFTER THIS SHE FACE PLANTED IN THE SNOW AND WHEN SHE LOOKED AT ME THE WHOLE CONE HAD PACKED WITH SNOW AND YOU COULDN'T EVEN SEE HER FACE.  I WOULD HAVE TAKEN A PICTURE BUT I FELT SO BAD FOR HER I PUT THE CAMERA DOWN AND WENT AND HELPED HER.  BUT I COULDN'T QUIT LAUGHING THOUGH!!

NOW SHE REALLY CAN'T HEAR!

HEY COOKIE!  REMEBER BILL FELIX???!!!!

  1. If you are running out of things, just start taking them from your neighbor's yard. I am sure their place is far too cluttered and you would be doing them a great service, if you were to help purge them of the disorder in their lives. I am sure your qualified to make these ddecisions for them. A faded garden gnome here... a tattered bird feeder there... that family across the way may have a glutton of children crowding up the yard... im sure the Goodwill can put them all to good use!

Fyi... In that picture, molly looks like a baby seal trapped on the ice, in fear of polar bears and hunters...
