Two things...signs and expensive hair salons.
Firstly: Signs. I couldn't make a final decision to actually take the step to cut my hair. I decided to wait one week and if in that week someone make a complimentary comment on my hair I would not cut it. I haven't had a comment made about my hair from the public for a long time. I think I am beginning to look like a demented old lady and scaring people off.
Well, the very next day I was in the bank and this awesome old lady teller (probably younger than me) was helping me and as we waited for a manager, she goes " Wow! I really like your hair! Don't you ever change it!!!" Seriously! Hahaha!! So I told her about what I was tentatively planning but now, because of what she just said, I would not be cutting it!
But the top needs trimming and curling. So after perusing all the beauty salon choices, I picked one pretentiously called "Ra". I picked it because it listed spiral perms as something they do. Off I go and as I was walking toward the magnificent venue, and it was magnificent, I remembered something. The beauticians that work in higher end salons don't like frowzy afro dry over permed hair. The Vietnamese salon I attended in Vancouver would perm my hair if they knew for a fact that I would end up bald. But salon 'technicians' don't do that.
And sure enough. I got the big talk, the clucking tongue, the gentle criticism of the last person to do my hair, and finally "Well in all good consciousness I cannot put my name to a perm on you. Its like a chef will not put his name to an inferior dish...it is not good for one's reputation." FRIGGIT!!!! So after a lot of critical chit chat I left. So I went up to a place up the hill and I could have probably got someone 'inferior' perm it anyway, but I didn't. I bought old fashioned curlers, little tiny ones. I shall be doing the curl thing old school. sigh
Monte's band is rehearsing downstairs right now. Loud!!! And they are sooooo good. Its amazing how good they are. The lead singer is can really sing and has written some awesome music. They are playing in Squamish this weekend. Monte was at a piano lesson tonight and didn't get home until about a half hour after the drummer arrived. I invited him in and we had a fantastic conversation. He is about my age. It seems so funny to have such an oldster playing with them. They are a very different bunch of guys. Big small long hair short hair old young country pop......interesting.
Well its a food day tomorrow. I am meeting my friend Kathy Smith for lunch at 11:30 at Mr. Mikes. Then I have supper with my high school group at Milestones at six.
Jeez I typed this the other day and forgot to hit post! Sorry! TTYL (I am typing up a new one as we speak)
