APRIL AND ANDREAS

Twenty four years ago on April 12, I took a four day old April home from the hospital.  It was late afternoon and we went to the office first to show her off to our people there, and then to Andreas for dinner.  And...on her birthday every year since we have gone to Andreas for dinner.  It is a tradition now. Sometimes there are lots of people there and sometimes it is just whatever family is available.

This year for the first time ever we were missing Monte.  Mind you in the last few years he would come on his own in his truck, eat, amuse us and leave immediately after.  This year Aryn graced us with her presence!  And we had a blast.

April opened presents first and then we ordered our usual "brown platter" and laughed and had fun.  At home we had a cream puff brownie concoction from Costco which was totally delicious.  Today I am back to juicing!

I am having endless trouble with my front teeth.  If it were back ones I wouldn't care but front ones??  My partial plate is holding one of the front teeth and the other is a crown, a wobbly iffy one.  I was told that I would have to get that one posted, and last week, after biting the wrong way on a fork, it dislodged and the only thing that keeps it in is suction, which doesn't always work.  I am so afraid I will swallow it!  Until I am home long enough to get it done, that crown is the only gap filler I have.

The other front tooth which is attached to the plate keeps popping off.  I buy crazy glue and glue it back on and it stays on for a few weeks then comes off again.  The tooth cradles into a spot on the plate in a tricky way and if you don't get it just right, too bad....it will be like that for the whole few weeks til it falls off again.  Well, last week it popped off, right on schedule.  Bill toddled off to the store and bought me some fresh glue.  I practiced putting the tooth in the right place a few times before getting him to drop a bit of glue on the spot.  I popped it in and its crooked.  JEEZ!!!  The top sticks out a little.  It doesn't look like much but in my mouth it feels like a house has been dropped in there.  The denturist who made this thing isn't there anymore so I need to find a good one here on the north shore.  There never seems to be a good time to go without my teeth for a few days!

Molly is in the hospital right now.  She was in a lot of pain and dragging her butt etc...  Turns out her anal glans are infected and one ruptured, poor thing.  There may be a tumour in there as well.  So she has been checked in, and they are flushing, blood testing, biopsying and removing some of her rotting teeth.  She did not look very happy when they carried her away.  Her little eyes were glued to mine in the most imploring way.  :(  We are waiting to hear how she is and if she is needing more surgery.

We take her to Atlas on 41st and Fraser.  All of the above, two nights in the hospital etc..was going to cost only 590.00.  Over here on the shore it would have been at least a thousand dollars more.  And the vets we have met over the years there are the kindest gentlest men you would ever meet.  Its a long way to go but totally worth it.  Even if they suddenly doubled their prices we would still go there.
