HOARDERS

As you will see by the pictures at the end of this entry, our garage looked like a hoarder's garage.  I watch that show on tv with sick fascination,  and a healthy dose of superiority.  Upstairs in the house, whilst not being the cleanest place on the block, I never let it get to the level of junk and mess that you see in those places on the show.  But, and I think its because we don't go in there often enough, our garage ended up looking like a bomb hit it.

Another thing that amazes me is how fast a clean up can be.  We backed the truck up to the garage door and started tossing.  Its true that some of it could probably have gone to sallyann, but due to time constraints we just let it go.  Poor Bill.  I do believe this is the first time in his life he actually had to throw stuff that wasn't completely "garbage" out.  It was truly hard on him.  One of the things we threw were boxes and boxes and boxes of tumbled marbled tile.  We bought them many many years ago, used them on our fireplace after the fire in the other house and have been packing them around ever since.  He was resisting chucking them until I asked him who he was willing to store them for, cuz we sure as hell would never ever be using them ourselves.  Put in that light, he threw them.

We may have to turn half that garage into a makeshift bedroom for Monte to use at Christmas time.  Kevin and family are coming and they need two bedrooms.  So we kept a really nice rug, a lamp and a bed frame.  Its pretty cozy and warm there in the winter and there is free wifi.  What more could someone want?!!

We occasionally have had to take back properties that we hold mortgages on and the people quit paying for one reason or another.  Almost always the place will be in a nasty horrible state....full of garbage, dirt, cobweb blankets, dead animals, personal papers, toys, books, clothes, and one memorable time, a person. A bailiff is always present, we always have the court order documents,  and he busts open the lock and in we go...never sure what we are going to find.

One time we went in and the place was absolutely beyond filthy and hip deep in papers, junk, crap, and many dead rats.  As we stood there surveying the mess and mentally measuring up how many big garbage containers we would have to order, a little filipino that owned the place suddenly popped up out of the middle of all that garbage and almost gave everyone a heart attack!!

Many years ago the same thing was happening with a house in Deep Cove.  The man lived alone and he simply quit paying and quit answering his phone or his door.   Now getting a court order to enter the premises and sell it is a long arduous affair.  While we were proceeding legally, we kept going over to his place and trying to contact him...to no avail.  Aryn and I were pretty sure he was dead in there.  No one just drops off the face of the earth like that.

Finally we had the papers.  So over we went and the bailiff opened the door.  We couldn't believe what we saw inside.  It was pristinely clean...hermetically so.  Everything was in its place, clean, free of dust or bugs and either black/brown or white.  All his dishes were white, bedding was white, towels were white and all the furniture was dark.  There was no colour whatsoever.  All the windows that were look outable were sealed over.  In his little den we found three computers, a map book open to New York and another to Washington DC, books on airplane recognition, (and this was right after 9/11) his passport (he was originally from Bath England,) all his private important papers on citizenship etc.  and about fifty videos of taped shows of Jeopardy.

We also found tiny tapes where he had been taping peoples phone calls (not sure how)..hours of them.  There was absolutely no sign of the man himself.  And there never has been.  He was paranoid according to his neighbour.  At halloween he would barricade the driveway and after reading his email, we found out he was pretty convinced "they"were after him.  He sent emails to his brother in Texas describing all the signs he would see on his property that "they" were out to get him.

Yesterday Aryn was with a bailiff yet again, getting into an apartment on our behalf.  She said the place was a mess, picture below, and completely covered in porn.  Ewwwww!!!!!  Now its time to go get that place cleaned up and sold!  She and I have a contest going....who finds a dead body first.  Where do these people go I wonder?

 OUR GARAGE BEFORE
 AND AFTER!!!
THE APARTMENT ARYN HAD TO GO INTO YESTERDAY WITH A BAILIFF.

Well its off to the dentist time.  For April not me but I am going with her.  Oh and Molly is back and fine.  She has a cone on her head and hates it so we are going to stop and buy a baby sleeper.  She can't bite her ass but she can still drink and eat.    They had to do things to her and needs to not lick it.  TTYL
