So, lets see….day before yesterday I don't think we did too much. It was pretty grey and windy out so we didn't go swimming. Spod and Monte went for a drive around and a coffee. The night before Monte and I found a shushi/Japanese restaurant we wanted to try. On their website they had the most amazing pics of their incredibly artful and beautiful food. Plus they have a list a mile long of all the awards they have won. They have a couple more Sanseis in other locations. So all day we totally anticipated our dinner there that night.
We even got dressed up somewhat. Off we went, it isn't far from here. Upon entering the place I noticed it seemed a little old, rundown a bit and very mundane…not as shiny and outstanding as I thought it would be. We were taken to a booth near the back, which had high backs so we could see very little but the little cubicle we were in. The waitress was awesome. We ordered appetizers, and Spod ordered ramen soup and Monte and I order four specialty sushi rolls. It all came in a jumble…over a period of ten to fifteen minutes. It was good, but not the stellar food we had expected…and paid for. After we left we kind of decided to cross a revisit to this one off our list.
Yesterday was lavender farm day. And it was so darn foggy we could hardly see the guy at the booth taking parking fees. He didn't charge us bless him.
We parked and went into the gift shop and bought a few things…like strawberry/lavender/chilli jam. We then sat out on the deck and had lavender coffee and lavender scone with lavender lilikoi jam. Mmmmm…its a bit of an acquired taste, which I have acquired! Later when I showed Monte old pics of the farm he was shocked to see the amazing view from up there…which wasn't visible yesterday!
From there we went to the cow town Makawoa. Such a quaint fun place. We walked the main street, dipping into little art stores etc…Spod bought flowers from the general store.
And from there we went to Ho'okipa Lookout and parked for a while and watched the surfing. We never ever get tired of doing that.
And…Spod had mentioned the night before, leaving Sansei, he would like some Italian food. So would I but I didn't want to spend forty dollars for a pile of noodles and sauce. So when we got home from Sansei, I looked up all the Italian restaurants, eliminated all the ones that had more than one dollar sign on them and found a pizza/pasta place in Wailuku. Off we went, found the joint and had the best spaghetti and meatballs we have had in yonks…for 8.95. Delicious.
Today we are doing the banana bread trail…I think. I phoned Lorraine and she has a lilikoi pie ready for us (you have to order ahead) But…there was a massive rainstorm yesterday all along that side of the Island. There was a huge slide on the Hana road, which has closed that road for a week at least. And right where Lorraine lives there has been flooding. So I might just give her a call and get a road report before we go. I will take pics and if we don't come back you know where it all went wrong! Since Feb. they have lost three people on those roads…over the cliffs. TTYL
