RAIN & WIND…NOT VERY HAWAII-ISH

A day or two ago we decided to go to the beach.  This is no light endeavour.  Its not like going to the pool where you can hop back to the condo for something you may have forgotten.  And you have to pack your drinks, pack a chair, pack extra strength sunblock etc…  Then you have to try to find a parking spot, a picnic table in the shade for Spod and then hike it down to the beach and find a spot there.  But, once you are bouncing in the waves its all worth it.

So, we went through the whole process.  Organized everything, packed it up, found there was a fair amount of parking, which made me suspicious, unpacked, got Spod settled and humped it down to the beach and layed out our paraphernalia.  I settled into the chair (with my hip I can't go in the water, even though it was pretty flat) and Monte immediately went into that water. I noticed there were not that many people down there and again, was a little suspicious.

After about one minute I realized why the beach was so deserted.  The wind.  Now I don't mind wind, in fact I welcome it.  It keeps one from getting too hot and it helps keep the flies off of you.  But it brings something else…sand.  Jeezus Murphy!!  That whipping sand stings!  And it gets into your eyes, your hair, your teeth…everywhere!  Thank heavens I hadn't put suntan lotion on.  But Monte had and he was wet.  Within five minutes of him coming out of the water he was covered in sand and we called Uncle and scrambled off the beach.  We packed it up and headed back to the condo and the pool.  Next time we will try Kameoli 1…it has a grassy part.  Cuz it doesn't look like the weather is going to change anytime soon.

Yesterday we planned to go up to the Iao Valley and see the 'needle'.  But its up into a mountain valley and as we got nearer the rain started to pour.  We circled the empty parking lot and headed right back down.

We then went to the Plantation, but it was closing so we went for a drive instead.

The day before yesterday we decided to go into Lahaina and have dinner at Star Noodle.  The place was owned (now sold) to the runner up in the last top chef competition.  That chef has now opened a new restaurant in Wailea.  But…Star Noodle still has the same menu and is one of the busiest restaurants in town.  We had to sit on benches outside and wait a half hour for our table and it was definitely worth the wait.  The food was absolutely divine!!  And not only that we had a real hoot in there.  The waitress was fun and we talked a little with other nearby diners.  So much fun.

Now its laundry and cleaning day again.  A good day for it by the looks of it outside.  Thy sky is grey and the air is cool and its windy.  TTYL
