ITS MONDAY…ANOTHER CHALLENGE DAY

Alrighty then…today's challenge:  eat fruit four times a day (unless you have one form or another of diabetes or on a low glycemic way of eating).  She goes into long descriptions about what each colour of fruit does for the body etc…  And, I have to admit that one thing she says I totally agree with:  don't ever drink juice.

The amount of sugars you ingest without the fibre benefit isn't worth it.  Its like eating candy.  I know that back in the 70's I took my kids completely off milk and juice.  They drank water.  And now here we are all these years later and its been shown how right that decision was.  I took an awful lot of flak for that decision over the years but I trusted the opinion of a little book written by a pathologist.  And my kids drink gallons of water, always have.

Let's see…day before yesterday we did the banana bread trail, even though we encountered little land slides and boulders in the road fairly quickly.

First we stopped at Jurassic park and strolled through to the snorkelling bay…which was pretty empty of snorkelers as the water was pretty muddy.  But the walk through the foliage along the very muddy (it has been raining like crazy here) trail was beautiful.  The sun was shining down through the thick green trees, vines and plants and making all the broad leaves shiny.  It was so jungly and moist smelling.  We even forced Spod out of the car and he tromped along with us with his trusty cane.

Next we stopped at the blow hole, which was barely blowing.  Yet again though the scenery and ocean vistas are incredible.  One never ever gets tired of it.  Then it was on to Lorraine's and Julia's for pie and banana bread.

The road was pretty hairy.  Fortunately there wasn't much traffic and we did encounter many little slides and rocks and boulders.  But Spod was going slow and careful so no worries.  We arrived at Lorraine's around three and we received our lilikoi pie and banana cream pie.  Just what the fat family needs! We sat in her back yard, soooo beautiful, and ate pie.  Monte was shocked at how good it was!!  We then drove up the road a few yards and bought banana bread…enough to freeze for a while.  I also picked up a polish sausage hot dog with pineapple mango salsa for each of us.  We hadn't eaten breakfast or lunch yet so they were particularly good!  The rest of the trip was beautiful and easy.

Yesterday we attempted to have a beach day.  The weather was amazing and we decided to try a different spot.  We ended up at a beach where as far as you could walk before hitting coral and its impossible to walk on, a long long way out, the

water never got higher than my knees, Monte's mid calf.  And the water was warmer than bath water.  Its a beautiful spot and he and I walked a long way out and just stood in the gentle waves.  We then lay on the sand on our towels for a while. What drove us away finally was a little group of kids about five years old playing nearby.  They were having the time of their lives but they were screaming and flinging buckets and sand around and yelling and SCREAMING (shovel list).  There was not one adult around.  I have no idea who they belonged to.  Definitely they were locals but still, it seems they are a little young to be left alone at the beach.  We finally caved and left..went back to the condo pool…which we go to two or three times a day.

Later we made a quick trip to Costco then it was Amazing Race and Good Wife time.

We were supposed to go to the beach early today but no one got up, even after I called them.  I got up early and made elaborate yummy roast beef sandwiches and got a whole picnic, as planned, together.  Now its noon and no one is up.  What the hell?!!  I'm going to the pool.  TTYL
