WOW!!! BC AT ITS BEST

Our province is so incredibly beautiful.  And it seems that this year it has stayed green, more than usual.

We had a fantastic time at Kathy's!  But I didn't get to see Mom:(  Due to circumstances it just didn't happen.  But we had an awesome time at Kathy's.  And we had a delicious dinner and we got to see Emily for the first time in a year and we got to see my brother!  On our way through to Cache Creek we stopped at Tobiano and had a look at Jo's beautiful new condo they have just bought.  Pics below!

Then we were off!!  The further north we go, more and more memories are surfacing.  Now and then there are glimpses of the old highway and I think back to sixty years ago and how we used to go to Kelowna from Smithers in an old blue ford station wagon to visit the grand parents.  Some crazy things happened on those trips!  Speaking of which,  in 1953, my mom and dad loaded up a giant truck with open racks on the back, the load reaching up to the sky, two children aged 2 and 6 months (me) and did the trek north from Agassiz to Smithers.  At times they had to ford creeks.  I don't know too many young parents these days that would be able to do that!  Mom had some hair raising stories about things that happened on the way.

Travelling with Bill ain't what it used to be either!!!  But some things never change.  He has the worlds worst timing and an amazing ability to get distracted.  Before we left on this trip I reminded myself that he is a few months shy of 80, can't hear very well, even with hearing aids, and his thinking has slowed down just a little.  I need to exercise my patience and kindness.  Also, he is doing all the driving which means I must be vigilant and watch for on coming cars when he suddenly decides to pass someone, waking him up when he falls asleep at the wheel,  keeping him from taking random incorrect turns off the road etc...  None of that is new or worse though...he has always driven like that!

WE WERE TOLD BY CRAIG ABOUT THIS PLACE.  ITS CALLED CHASM AND IT MOST DEFINITELY WAS!!  MY STOMACH WAS ON THE GROUND AND I WAS HANGING ON TO THE FENCE FOR DEAR LIFE

THERE IS JUST NO WAY CAN THE CAMERA SHOW THE IMMENSE DEPTH OF THIS CHASM
Right now I am sitting in the motel bed in Vanderhoof.  I am surrounded by dogs and technology.  We are about to hit the road again, on our way to Smithers.  I am so excited to see the old stomping grounds again.  But first I have to tighten my pony tail, put my teeth in, pack up the crap we brought in, reorganize the back of the truck, walk and water dogs, and wait for Bill.  TTYL!!
