He also brought me home a whack load of sunflower seeds...all different flavours. April phoned and told me yesterday that on the news channel she watches in the morning (Breakfast Tv) they said that one cup of sunflower seeds has more calcium than like eight glasses of milk, and we know the calcium in the milk never makes it to your body. Unfortunately they are salted. I will have to make a trip to a health food store and try to find unsalted seeds with the hull still on. Like you wanna know this.
On Friday my new appliances were delivered. OMG!! They couldn't get the fridge through the door as is. They had to take it all apart. In the process they gouged up my doorway into the kitchen. And...would you believe, a big dent on the upper left door. The purchase was an open box sale, so I had a chance to really go over it and make sure there were no dints so I know this happened between pickup and delivery. So now starts the fun part. I have already wasted about three hours over a couple of days either ringing the store or sitting on hold or waiting for return calls. We will see. I think I need to go into expect nothing and be happy with anything mode. The guys did offer me a 75 dollar gift card. Not good enough. I have put a pic of the dint below. I would welcome any and all advice here!
I also am not happy about the fact that you can't buy old school coil stoves anymore. They won't service them. And the ceramic top stoves are horrible. They are SLOW, take forever to cool off once they are finally hot, and they are high high maintenance. I took a pic of the top after one use. And it won't come clean. You have to buy special shit to clean it. I think the guy who owns the special shit company made those stove tops on purpose. They are about the dumbest thing I have seen in a kitchen yet. I don't have gas so there was no other option. Horrible things.
I had my awesome grandchildren this weekend! Back last year on Trivia Night, I won a Holiday Inn silent auction. So I gave the certificate to Kevin and they took an extra night as well. They got a well deserved break.
But first, I insisted they stay for dinner Friday night. I haven't seen them for months. I also invited K& (this amp thing won't go away!)K up for dinner. I miss Spod at times like this. While I am in the kitchen cooking, Kathy and Kerry carried the visit ball in the living room. Delicious dinner....slow cooked pork shoulder, scalloped potatoes, peas and carrots and K brought the most delicious salad. I mean it was REALLY delicious, not your ordinary salad. For dessert I made a banana trifle..Kev's fave. I read a bunch of stories to the kids and they went down like a charm!
Saturday was awesome. These are two kids that live screen free. There is no tv in their house and once a week they each get to pick a half hour netflix show (carefully chosen by parents) each. So any tv is magical beyond words to them. So we had a tv day! They are learning what it is to be at Gma's house!
Elise's fave toys and music is all Frozen. She lives and breaths Frozen...but she has no idea what the story is. So we found Frozen on Shaw on demand and watched it. You should have seen her face!!! She was truly mesmerized by the whole experience!!! We also watched the Grinch who stole Christmas and Charlie Brown and ate popcorn and ran around between shows and coloured and read books. On Sunday morning I declared it screen free day. So Fenton went out into the sparkling freezing cold to play in the snow and Elise and I made cookies. She went outside after. We couldn't find her mitts so I put socks on her hands, old school. She was mortified!!! Almost didn't go outside! All in all a fantastic weekend.
Yesterday was supposed to be a baking day with Kathy and Jo but I developed a nasty frigging cough over the weekend. You cough til you're gagging and your eyeballs feel like they are going to pop out. Which can happen so every time I have a coughing fit I have to hold my eyeballs in, just in case. So interfering of life and annoying but I do NOT want my eyeballs popping out. Plus I got sick...general malaise. Grrrrrrr. So I phoned Kathy and warned her and we decided it would be best if they didn't come up. Sad:( But I muddled through and made the cookies and tarts.
Now I am sitting here in my chair feeling sorry for myself. I am going to have to miss a kiwanis meeting again (shovel list). And I am missing a hockey game tonight (double shovel list).
My hundred day project was supposed to end tomorrow. I made it to 75 things and I am now running out of stuff to get rid of. What is left is a lot of Native art, Christmas stuff, office boxes, pictures, keepsakes (not many of them left) and April stuff. Its now a matter of packing it up and putting it all in the cupboards. I can actually put a double bed in there if necessary. But I am going to randomly post pics of stuff I am going to continue to find and dispose of. Its addictive, throwing stuff out. Its pretty stupid what we hang on to.
I shall throw a couple pics on here and TTYL
NEIGHBOURS BATHROOM...THOUGHT THIS WAS CUTE |
ELISE WITH HER SOCK HANDS! |
BEAUTIFUL FRIDGE |
THE DINT...I THINK ITS BAD ENOUGH TO GO AFTER RESTITUTION |
THOSE DOTS ARE NOT SNOW...THE WHOLE AIR WAS FULL OF SPARKLES |
WILL NOT CLEAN |
NO MATTER WHAT I DO IT WON'T CLEAN |
I AM REALLY KICKING MYSELF THAT I DIDN'T BUY BLACK APPLIANCES. THIS IS THE BOTTOM DRAWER OF THE STOVE. THE PEA AND CARROT WATER BOILED OVER AND RAN DOWN |
IN CERTAIN LIGHT YOU CAN'T SEE THE DENT IN PICS...BUT YOU CAN SEE IT WITH YOUR EYE. THERE IS ANOTHER ONE DOWN AT THE BOTTOM RIGHT BUT I A NOT GOING TO WORRY ABOUT THAT ONE. |
Best advice I got for my stove was to buy a kit from Walmart. It has a razor blade cleaning tool that makes owning one of those stoves more bearable. It's called cerabryte or something. http://i5.walmartimages.com/dfw/dce07b8c-187d/k2-_9eab2ed1-bb70-424a-87e8-7561afbbeaef.v1.jpg?odnWidth=144&odnHeight=144
