FUN FUN FUN

Thursday night was awesome!!  We arrived at the dinner theatre in plenty of time to get a really good table.  The grade tens served us our dinner and it was so very cool to be back in the old cafeteria where we had spent an enormous amount of time in years past.  I took two classes of cooking every day in grade eleven and twelve.  I eventually got my certificate to cook for five hundred people.  Could explain some things! The play was fun and we had such a good evening.

Friday I had all sorts of plans.  I need a different mop.  I need a new coffee pot  (I gotta stop throwing things off the balcony) and I need more probiotics  (magic pills...I am going to email you about them Cheryl...I haven't forgotten!).  But I ended up going downtown with Monte to the record store where he practically lives.  He is doing a half hour one man show there at the end of the month and I wanted to meet the guy that he has become friends with.  I had a lot of fun...bought a Blondie record. By the time we were done though I was bagged.  I wasn't feeling all that well...too many pills in my system.  So I went home instead.  I headed for my chair and napped.  Retirement is sooo tough!

Yesterday though was busy and hilarious and beautiful and so much fun.  I got invited to join the Bootle/Haight family for their mother's day day.  Dorothy came up from Van. and had to go home Sun. so they did Mother's day on Saturday and I was totally honoured to be invited along.

We did the Kamloops area wine tour!  I ended up buying so much wine I need a wine cellar!!!  We went to one winery first where the reislings and roses (not the flowers) were amazing!!  We then headed out to Monte Creek Ranch winery.  It was stunningly beautiful there, up above the river and right now everything is so green.  Not only did I buy wine, but I bought the most amazing wine rack.  It looks like gears.  I love steam punk and I think I am going to start collecting pieces for the living room.

Jo had packed an amazing picnic which we had at the picnic tables set up on the beautiful grounds of the winery.  Cheeses, sausage, grapes, crackers, fresh bread, hummus, mustards, pickles (and gramma made!!), cookies, chilled wine...what more could one want.  I will post some pics below for those that aren't my facebook friends.  We had so much fun.  Kathy and Kerry have a huge van and we all fit into it so there was a lot of laughter...and napping by Granddaddy and baby whilst in the last winery stop!

When we got back to Kathy's, we got drinks and headed down to their awesome back yard to play games.  One of them was a six foot high jenga game.  I hadn't played jenga before and I gotta tell ya...its nerve wracking!!!  After a few more games, Monte went and picked up chinese food dinner and we all ate up on their lovely deck.  And we all got making really inappropriate jokes about old people getting stds!  How bad is that?  But we got laughing so freaking hard I almost threw up!!  What a fantastic day!

And today was pretty awesome too.  I picked Anne up downtown near her place and we went to Save On and loaded up on picnic stuff.  Potato salad, guacamole (I made before I left, salsa, dorito chips, seafood dip, Gary's sausage (you have to be from Kamloops to know how special that is, brought by Anne), all the condiments, grape tomatoes, celery and carrot sticks, lemon cake and apple fritters.  Oh and balogna and bread.    We stopped at MacD's and picked up coffee.

The plan was to go to the Monte Creek Church where Spod and I got married.  We did go there but wouldn't you know...there was a church service happening.  Damn!!!  They only do that once in a while and today was the day!  Too many cars and people!!!  So we toured Monte Creek, took a look at the house Spod built and we lived in part time for many years...it was cool to see it all again!  But now we needed a place to picnic.  So out we went to the Monte Creek winery!

I would like to report that it was awesome but there was one huge difference between yesterday and today....heat, or lack there of.  If was freaking cold!!!   The wind was blowing and it cut right through you to the very bone.  We set our picnic up on the table but finally we took our loaded plates and coffee and went and sat in the jeep to eat it!  It was blessedly warm in there!  But we still had a blast.  We then drove out to Pritchard with the intention of driving back to Kamloops along the river on the other side.  But as we got to the other side of the bridge there was a sign that said No Through Road.  I think they lied.  But we turned around.

Tonight Monte took me out for dinner!  For Mother's day.  I was thrilled.  Mother's day is more important to me than Christmas or my birthday or any other day of the year.  So I was tickled pink to have something happen!!!  We went to Original Joe's and we had a really significant heavy duty conversation.  I loved it.  My fave thing.

And now here I sit, waiting for a phone call from April.  She is calling when she is finished her dinner.  I talked to Kevin this morning, I have been talking to him lots lately which is great.  And I got the dearest message  from Arnie on facebook.  What more could a mom want?
