I AM SURROUNDED BY DOGS!

Kerry got hold of me yesterday to ask me if I would doggysit Emma for a few days.  Of course I said yes...I really like Emma.  And Wrangler really likes her.  Not Molly so much.

Aryn got hold of me the other day to tell me that the tests etc. done on Molly came back and the news wasn't so good.  She has a fairly advanced aggressive cancer.  They wouldn't give her a prognosis but there seems to be no point in chemotherapy or extraordinary measures.  The vet concurred with Aryn that they just take her home and as long as she is still zipping around their place, throwing and shaking her toys like crazy and eating like a pig, just leave her be.  When she starts to fail, that will be the time to deal with it.

That got me to thinking about Wrangler, who isn't a young dog.  And I can honestly say that when I think of him getting something like that, my heart breaks a little.  Sure different from all the dogs that have gone before, even Homer.  This dog has crawled into my heart somehow.  Even up at the kennel where he goes when I travel he is their fave dog.  Maybe granddogs ARE different from regular dogs!

I had a wonderful Canada day!  I was supposed to go to the park and help with the Kiwanis booth.  But I have to admit I chose a different path and I do feel a tad guilty!

Anne's son Larry was in town with his family.  They stay at Anne's place just near here when they are visiting from Cranbrook.  They invited me over there for breakfast.  I haven't seen them for quite a while and so I made the executive decision to go.  And I am so glad I did.

Breakfast was amazing...Larry and Akino are wonderful cooks.  And it was so good to see their kids again too.  And right smack in the middle of breakfast, the heavens opened and dumped a gullywash of rain and thundering hail...with a full on wild lightening and thunder storm.  Those poor folks in the park.  They would have been soaked.

I had a lovely surprise the other morning.  I decided to weigh.  First time in absolutely forever.  So I hopped onto the scale, which is still working because Anton changed the battery in it when he was here.  And I had a pretty good idea of what I thought I weighed.  And I actually was thirty pounds less!!!!  I was thinking they were making the clothes bigger at the fat lady store, but I guess not.  I'm still fat and I don't really feel different.  Maybe the scale isn't working.  I weighed several times and it said the same weight each time.  I will have to get someone else to weigh on it and check.  If someone who weighs in the neighbourhood of 120 pounds gets on and its says 90, I will know we have a problem.

Well Wrangler is bashing his head on me.  Needs to go out.  Either that or he is super hungry.  I have had to put him on a bit of a diet.  When I picked him up from the kennel, he looked fat.  I remember Monte telling me how much I need to feed him and I think he has been wrangling a wee bit more out of me.  So now he is on a diet and he doesn't like it.  Too easy to spoil him.
