TANKS AND FINGERNAILS

Packed, jacked and set to go...almost.  The other day I opened the fridge and a small jar of olives fell out.  Don't know why, the fridge is not full.  Anyway, I whipped my hand out to catch it, reflex, and snagged my thumbnail on my left hand on the edge of something and ripped it nearly off.  And I saw stars!

I now understand why the Japanese used fingernails as a point of torture.  Holy Heaven, the pain.  It was so bad I started to shake....and cry.  And the pain did not subside.  It bled for a while and the whole nail turned an ugly scary grey.  I got a bandaid and covered it up.  I didn't want to see it.  Now the whole nail is lifting off and there is already a new baby nail underneath.  The human body is a pretty amazing machine.  It hurt like stink for two days then started to subside and now it just feels funny.

Right now I am sitting on April's couch.  Its early early.  Day before yesterday I turned on the shower, getting ready for the day.  I always let it run for a minute or two to warm up the inside of the tub behind the shower curtain.  I went to get in and shit if the water wasn't stone cold.  What???

Sure enough, the hot water tank was a goner.  I knew I would need to replace it sometime as the home inspector told me so.  But right now?  And I couldn't leave Taylor downstairs with no hot water in the house.  Jesus H!!!

I talked to Kerry about a suggestion of who to call and Kathy, bless her, offered to meet whoever at the townhouse to let them in  to exchange the tank.  What an awesome sister...and a really really busy one who does not have time for this silly crap.  So they are coming today at noon.  Meanwhile Taylor, true tough northern girl, hopped into her shower downstairs and took a cold one!

I had the nicest trip down yesterday.  I have purposely made a change to how I travel.  I don't go 120 ks per hour.  I go 100 or maybe 110.  Its so relaxing.  I let everybody go screaming by.  And I always stop at Home Cafe (if there isn't a line up out the door) and have a leisurely breakfast or lunch and read my book.  Then somewhere along the way I get sleepy so I pull into a rest stop and put my neck pillow in place and sleep for half an hour.  I love it.  Makes the trip way more pleasant.

Well I gotta bounce.  Have to pack up and head to my hairdressers...so excited!  I shall get a real perm.  The others just don't do a good job.  TTYL
