We left Kelso at around eight this morning and headed over to Astoria. We stopped at the first lookout we came to overlooking the humungous bridge crossing from Washington to Oregon. And Cookie, instead of looking at the amazing view, (pics below), immediately spies a pair of discarded tighty whiteys fully loaded. God! That girl!! Suspicious curly hairs last night and poopy loaded undies this morning. Whats with her anyway!!!!
Speaking of her...it dawned on me in the middle of the night last night that we met in September, grade ten, FIFTY YEARS AGO!!!! We are celebrating our fiftieth anniversary of friendship! And we have not had even one fight in that whole time. Cookie says its because we have been respectful and non judgemental with each other. I know that at the beginning when we knew we were in for the long haul, we made a pact. We would never ever criticize each other about anything. And we haven't...except for the ugly plates she has had hanging on her wall for twenty or more years. They gotta go.
We are in Lincoln City tonight in a more expensive but equally ratty hotel. This one does have a fridge and microwave but no hair dryer or coffee making stuff. Oh well. We can get coffee in the lobby. No breakfast provided of course. Like we really need it.
We mozied down, stopping here and there, driving into little seaside villages as we went. The little towns are amazingly quaint and the flowers and gardens are stunning. I put a couple pics down below but they don't do it justice. We have also been stopping at quilt shops. Cookie quilts and she has a list of the shops all the way along the coast. We find them, old school way (no gps) and she can go on the hunt. I go hunt for a bathroom whilst she does this. Sigh. (shovel list)
At one point we stopped at Canon Beach (I think). It was quite interesting with waves, sand and outcrop rocks. We parked at the beach, went into a place called Mo's and had a shrimp sandwich then I got into the jeep to make a phone call while Cookie walked the beach. I got my pillow, wrapped it around my neck and fell sound asleep. So while Cookie tramped over the sand and over dale, I slept like the dead. So much for my walking to

So now we are laying in our beds, I am blogging and she is looking up hotels for tomorrow night. We are heading to Florence tomorrow. I think we are going to stop along the way and take in more lovely scenes.
But now, like the old broads we are, we are heading to bed. After all it is nine o'clock. I am turning into my mother. Take care peeps...TTYL
