I do remember I paid two bucks, thats American bucks, to use a bathroom in a campground. Every freaking interesting sight or park has to be paid for to get in. Light house?...ten bucks please. Sand dunes?...ten bucks please. Seals on the beach?...Ten bucks please. Picnic area?...two bucks please. Outhouse?...Two bucks please.
I was desparate. As my kids will tell you, and now Cookie, when I need a john, I NEED ONE NOW!!! So we are toodling down the road, and I have already had to frantically find three bathrooms along the way, I need another one and we are in the middle of absolutely nowhere! We see a state park campground and day use picnic area. So in we go and of course there is the hated little hut you can't go past without paying.
We turned away from the day use one and went to the campground and again, the little hut. So I parked and went over and asked if there was a loo I could use. I even told him I was desperate. Sure he says, that will be two dollars. Seriously! Thats worse than Europe where it costs half a euro in some of them. But I paid and drove to the one he indicated and felt much better on the way out. Two bucks well spent I say!
We are in Bandon, just south of Coos bay. This morning we drove through umpteen little towns looking for a place to get some breakfast. Finally in a little place called Waldport Cookie went into a quilt shop, a really bad one apparently, but she asked where we could find a restaurant. We were directed to a nearby pub.
So in we went. There was a sprinkling of old men drinking beer (11:30 in the morning I might add), an old fat couple waiting until 12 so they could order lunch, not breakfast and a very loud and jolly bartender lady. We were quite happy it was still breakfast.
On the menu was sausage gravy and biscuits. OMG!! My fave and we can't get it up in Canada. So I ordered the two biscuit plate. Cookie got eggs and bacon and hashbrowns. Well, holy crap, when my breakfast came I thought Cookie was going to choke. Me too. It looked like a massive person threw up on my plate. A huge amount! But oh boy! was it ever delicious! But unfortunately I could only eat half of it.
Tonight we are just too tired to go out to eat. Cookie crossed the busy busy street (way more dangerous than SLEEPING IN THE JEEP), to a supermarket. Tonight we dined on cheese, sourdough bread, strawberries, carrot and celery sticks, pepperoni and gingerbread cookies. Mmmmmm.....yum.
Now I think we are going to go for a beach drive. Takes a half an hour and its 7:30, the perfect time for picture taking. I am putting some pics below. Hopefully I will be more lively tomorrow night! TTYL
