DAY EIGHT AND CRAZY CRAZY COSTCO

I knew that today would be crazy for final shopping but it had to be done!  I wanted to get to Costco before door opening but an incredibly important call (for me)  came in from daughter Jen and so I took my time.  Its funny, she is the third person to ask me this year what the fantastic shortbread recipe I have is....I originally got it from a neighbour in Monte Creek, so here it is....1 pound soft butter, 1/2 cup cornstarch, 1 cup icing sugar and 3 cups of flour.  Mix it up with your hands.  Form cookies, plop what you like on top and bake at 350 until as brown as you like them!!!  Yummy!!  So by the time I got dressed etc..we didn't get to Costco til fifteen minutes after opening.

We knew we were in trouble before we were even out of the car.  Next door to Costco is a very busy KMart.  We actually ended up parking over way behind KMart!!  We had to wait for a buggy at the door and then line up to get in!  Once in we simply had to inch along in line with everyone else.  We finally realized that the long row down the back of each side was reasonably doable so we headed there.  One of us would run up and down the cross aisles getting what we needed.  Crazy!!!!  But everyone was in such good spirits and laughing about it.  It really was fun in the end.  At the checkout we were 11th in line and very quickly there 11 more behind us.  We got to know the people in the line really well and had so much fun!

Next we hit Safeway which wasn't too too bad.  I love wandering through Safeway.  They have such interesting food here (processed of course) that we can't get in Canada.  Maybe thats a good thing!

Last night about seven our doorbell rang.  This has never happened before.  Upon opening the door, I was faced with several Filipino smiling faces singing carols!!!  Even Bill was happy and he hates Christmas.  They were so sweet and absolutely terrible singers!

Tomorrow I start the cooking for our two days of eating!!  I am so excited.  Today when I weighed I was up 2 pounds.  How the hell is that possible???  I weighed a few minutes ago and I am back down again.  I tried to drink more water today but I hate water.  I didn't drink much juice either.  Can't wait to eat!!  My Christmas present to me.  But....right after boxing day its back to another ten day juice fast.  "sigh".  TTYL
