DAY FIVE JUICING AND MAKING CHILLI OIL

A lovely day again today.  Two delicious juices and I am not so hungry tonight, thank goodness.  My weight loss seems to be a steady 1/2 pound a day, which is a good rate.

We again went shopping for all the little things we are having trouble finding.  There is not one oil/vinegar set on this whole island.  I did finally find a mortar/pestle at Hilo Hatties of all places.  It is a wooden set and works really well.

We then drove up through the upcountry and out to the edge of the earth.  It is so astounding there.  It was only 69 degrees, a soft wind blowing and a hot hot sun.  So we parked on the edge and I hauled out my fat boy chair, plunked down and fell asleep.  Sound asleep!  Do you know what woke me up?  The smell of cooking Bully Boy hamburgers!  About a half a kilometre back we passed a tippity balanced on the edge of the little flat piece of land, rickety shack.  They had a weenie teenie deck with a bbq.  There was a big sign telling us to stop and get one of those awesome big juicy burgers, the beef was raised right on that ranch and they were full of tomatoes, lettuce, maui onion and whatever sauces and cheeses we want.  OH MY GOD!!  I almost cried.  And believe me when I tell you, this is truly out in the middle of absolutely nowhere.  Not a house or person anywhere in sight for miles.  There were two carloads of people there, sitting on roughly thrown together tables and benches, right on the edge of the awesome steep steep slope, down about six miles to the ocean.  The view is fantastic.  And they were chowing down harsh.  And, I swear to you, at least a half k away, I could smell them.  I could.

When we got home I immediately got out my nice new mortar/pestle and made the chinese condiment chilli sauce that sits on all the tables in their restaurants.  It seemed to be the best recipe and it turned out fantastically!  So happy. I shall post pics!  TTYL
