We spent the morning swimming. The three girls walked down to the beach and spent time with Eithne, just talking and soaking up the sun. When they got back Eithne was her old self and had come to terms with things and decided to just shelve it all until she got home. I spent the morning in the pool. Jeez I love it there. Ten in swimming and fifteen out in the chair. Alllllll morning. I really love swimming in the pool. I know there are those out there that think its icky etc....but thats not me. Even if it was I would still go swimming. Fainthearted I am not!
We took off mid afternoon for the blow hole. Such a beautiful drive. The coast line of Maui is pretty astonishing. The girls hiked it down to the blow hole. I am having trouble getting them to dress appropriately. The stuff we do is strenuous and dirty and needs good foot wear. So they wear fancy dresses and flippy little sandals. Consequently they did a little sliding, and got dirty. It was kind of funny. When I told Jess before we left, as she came out of the bedroom in a gorgeous white, pure white, sundress, that we would be getting dirty, she didn't change, she just brought another dress to change into if that happened!! And dirty she got and she changed in the car as we were driving to Lahaina. So funny!! The blow hole was NOT blowing. It was pretty wimpy. But the scenery down there is worth the hike (or slide in the case of the girls) down.
We stopped at the snorkelling beach on the way to Lahaina. You have to walk for a ways through the most amazing jungly Jurassic park type foliage before you get there. It is an utterly amazing place that pictures just don't do justice to. At the end, at the beach are about a million chickens, and people in various states of undress. Its not a swimming beach, its a rocky launch into the water to snorkel. I think this place was the kids favourite spot on the island.
Then off to Lahaina, Front Street, for yet more shopping! And a dinner at Cheeseburgers in Paradise, the most fun place to go eat. The guy that was singing was amazing, playing a lot of old CCR and Neil Diamond, Leonard Skinner etc...and the whole place was a little tipsy and singing along as loud as possible. The food was cheap and delicious.
