AWESOME PEOPLE AND AWESOME DINNER

Really missing Cookie and Brian today.  It seemed so empty and quiet...and dirty.  Jeez its amazing how quickly things got dirty and messy without those two here!!!  So today was a clean up day.  Thanks to those two I didn't have to do anything at all to their room or bathroom!!

I baked a pineapple upside down cake for dessert tonite.  It took 2 1/2 hours to solidify but it was  sure good.  I am not sure why it stayed runny so long.

Heather's parents are wonderful people.  We have a huge amount in common.  All of us were brokers, we all had our own business, we all cruise, lots, we have grandchildren, and we have awesome kids and close families.  There was not one awkward moment or one silent moment!!  I love that.  And they were so interesting and I have a feeling they would be a lot of fun to be with for a longer period of time.  I sure wish they lived in Vancouver or we in Calgary!

I made tarragon salmon, new potatoes, broccoli, boccacini tomato salad, buns and upside down cake.  Mmmmm it was good and so enjoyed our time.  Those poor people were so tired when they left.  They had gotten up at an ungodly hour this morning in Calgary, flew here on a late plane and right now it is like 12:30 in the night their time.  I appreciated their effort in coming here.

So now its off to bed for us.  Our very last night here til June.  I am excited to get home to our kids and doggies etc...  and juicing again.  As soon as I get home I am going to go get veggies and get right back to it.  I am going to mark on my calendar the days I will be eating between now and our next trip in April.  Hunger shall become my dark passenger yet again!  LOL!!  TTYL

MY BFF AND BALONEY

Today we went to a different craft fair and picked up the cane Bill bought yesterday.  It is awesome!  Then we went to the beach for our one last final swim:(  The water was warm and awesome and we watched whales and people and kids.  Suddenly a wind came up and our umbrella blew away so it was time to leave.  I pulled a somewhat short tank top on over my bathing suit and hopped into the car.

On the way home Bill had to make a quick stop at Hilo Hatties, right beside the Safeway.  So, I told him I would hop into Safeway quickly to get a couple things whilst he went to the other store.  Unexpectedly, he stopped in front of Safeway to let me out.  As I hopped out I realized I had no clothes on but Cookie quickly said "You're alright!"  So I hopped out.  Oh My God!  I went in and you know those dreams where you are in a busy peopley place and suddenly you realize you are naked?  Well that is exactly how I felt.  I shall have nightmares tonite.  Just imagine a giant poofy white haired aging lady in brilliant orange and yellow baggy but short tank top and a black bathing suit that looks like underwear.  Not good.  Going down as my second most embarrassing moment in my life.

Well, I bought baloney (I know, its spelt wrong).  We haven't had baloney in forever.   Cookie taught me how to really eat baloney so I wrote this poem:

My BFF’S Baloney Sandwich

I love baloney
Where ever I am
It's better than eggs
And better than spam

I have a best friend
And she taught me how
To make a baloney sandwich
The only way I’ll eat it now

First you get the frying pan
And get it real hot
You throw in a couple slices
And let them sizzle a lot

Some baloney will curl
Pulling up at the edge
And some baloney just lays there
Like it is dead

In the end it doesn't matter
Cuz when it's all brown
You slap it between bread slices
And gorf it down

Mmmmmm I love baloney
Where ever I'm at
It's a great thing to share
And a great way to get fat

Now we are getting dressed up to go out to dinner.  Yayy!!!!!  TTYL

SHE BOUGHT STUFF!!!

This morning we dropped Brian off at a nearby golf course for a day of golfing.  The three of us then took off for a trip to Kahalui to a giant swap/craft sale.  The place was enormous and so so many beautiful things from art work, photo prints, jewelry, quilting, food, clothing, estate sale stuff etc...  Cookie found the "Little Tibet" booth, our favourite store in Makawao that sells our favourite jewelry.  They had an awesome sale on moonstones and labourite.  We both bought things (Cookie bought four pieces!!!) and we love them.

We left there to go to Walmart.  As usual I needed some mundane things but first we sat at McD's and had an icecream cone....mmmmm.  We watched little kids bounce around and big fat moms and dad's try to control them!  Not happening!

Then we headed home and out to the pool.  I am really going to miss that pool.  I love swimming and now that I have a fly swatter, I am enjoying just lounging on the chairs.  Stupid flies.

Tonite after dinner we headed out to the bird sanctuary boardwalk.  It was just sunset and got dark as we walked.  Had fun taking pics in the dark with the flash!  Then we drove out to Wailea and back, just watching peeps as we drove.

OH NO!!!!!!

I stupidly left a little brown flat bag in the car.  In that bag was a most beautiful glass necklace I purchased on the R2H (local for road to hana).  Brian, bless his heart, cleaned the car thoroughly yesterday and I bet he thought it was garbage...it looked like it.  They have taken the car and have driven up the volcano.  Their plan is to hike down into the crater a ways.  I can't handle the altitude so Bill and I stayed behind, to do a little packing and give them some time to enjoy on their own.  I will have to check the car when they get back.

Nope, it wasn't in the car.  My own stupid fault.  I should have brought it in when we got back.  I had barrelled in to use the loo and by the time I got back the car was all locked up and emptied.  The next day when Brian was cleaning I never gave it a thought and it was in a crumpled little brown bag.  I should know better by now.  Oh well, I shall have to find another one later in Lahaina!

They had a fantastic hike by the sounds of it.  Right down into the crater.  Here, Cookie is going to tell you about it here:   Temp dropped to 51F by the time we got to the top and then we started our hike down into the crater. It was so beautiful in a rugged landscape and the colours were amazing! We hiked down a marked trail for 55 minutes, along with other hikers and people on horses[the only way down! next time]. Then we had to hike back up and my silent mantra was 'there is a car at the end of this'.  I made it! and in great time! 10 minutes longer then the trip down. not bad for a senior! and I have say... it was worth it! Pictures can not show the majestic beauty of this amazing place.

Now we are off to Lahaina!!  I will report back later!

We are back and full and happy!  It just happened that it was the Chinese new year and such a show they put on.  The Lion dancing was amazing.  All ages, from little kids to older folks, men and women all participated.  So colourful and fun.

After the dancing we wandered on down the street to Famous Dave's BBQ and it was so good we were shocked!  Every single thing we ordered was cooked to perfection and for a restaurant on Front Street the prices were more than reasonable.  So fun and good.

COOKIE IS ABOUT TO GIVE MONEY TO THE LION...THROUGH ITS MOUTH

THIS LITTLE SCARED ONE IS BEING PROTECTED BY GRAMMA...WHO LOOKS A LOT MORE SCARY THAN THE LION!

 STELLA ARTOIS!!

SHE GOT THE BIGGEST BURGER EVER..SERVED ON A COOKIE SHEET

 SHE ATE IT ALL TOO!!

PURPLE SARONG FOR A PURPLE BATHING SUIT

Then some more shopping and a wander down the street, a few more purchases and now we are home.  Tomorrow I do believe Brian is golfing and we are going to Kahalui for one more shopping trip!  TTYL

I AM SO EXCITED!!!

I am using my meatball maker.  Right Now!!!  It is so friggin' awesome!!

This morning whilst Bill was facebooking and Brian was super cleaning and detailing the car, Cook and I went to the pool and swam and pooled etc... Awesome!  I stayed there another hour after she left.

Now I have washed my hair :( and packed :(:(:( and am now making meatballs in my meatball maker while the three of them go to Turtle Beach and Makawao.  They smell so good and they look awesome (I peeked)  I am taking pictures of the process.  Actually they smell like they are burning just a little.  I better go check.

Okey dokey then.  I think my first hint that maybe, just maybe, this meatball maker wasn't the glorious thing I thought it was, were the extensive cleaning instructions in the book.  Very easy to use, easy to store, cooked absolutely perfect meatballs..but I think I knew I was in trouble when I read those instructions.  "Do Not Submerge in Water".  Okay, then how do you clean a greasy, burnt sticky godforsaken gooey mess off a semi hot appliance.  Well, this is how:
First you get a giant roll of paper towel.  Next you try to wipe off all the gooey stuck mess.  Doesn't work.  Next you get hot water and a clean cloth.  Fifteen minutes later you know it isn't ALL going to come off.  More paper towel, and you have to stop and clean off black goo spray on your glasses.  Try again.  Half an hour later you see most of it is off and thats good enough and I know a spot way in the back of the bottom lazy susan cupboard where no one goes that this f......g thing can go.  Only a stupid man would invent a piece of crap like this.  Good meatballs do NOT justify this awful mess.  At least one tree died in this clean up.

LOOKS GREAT DOSEN'T IT?

ever since I dropped my camera that day, I have noticed that the odd picture I take is not focusing :(
I ACTUALLY HAD TO GO GET MY LOSER APRON....MY CLEAN WHITE SHIRT WAS GETTING BLACK SPOTS ALL OVER IT

THEY LOOK AND TASTE PERFECT...THEY REALLY DO
BUT I GOTTA TELL YOU, THIS IS GOING TO KEEP ME FROM EVER USING IT AGAIN
AT LEAST ONE DEAD TREE IN THERE

Now, it is five oclock and they should be back soon.  I am going to make a veggie stir fry to serve with those things up there and then we are off to Lahaina.  It is so much fun to walk front street after dark.  I shall finish this off then.

So we didn't go!  As it turned out American Idol was coming on and we were feeling kind of lazy so we stayed in!   Cook and I have been fiddling with our cameras and now we are berlaxing as my brother used to say when he was little.  TTYL
