I AM IN DISARRAY

Honestly I can't remember what I did five minutes ago.  I am just NOT used to my life being this busy.  Don't get me wrong...I love it, but I feel like I am always running and trying to catch up to my brain.  I really do think I am descending, slowly, into dementia.  I watched both Gramma and Mom have this happen to them, its not Alzheimer's but inherited dementia, a bit kinder form of the disease.  That being said, I have tried to warn the kids but they won't listen to me.  Wishful thinking on their part.  Maybe on mine too.  I figure if its going to happen you might as well look on the brighter side...absolutely no accountability at all.  Sounds good to me!!

So here goes...I shall try to remember whats happened over the last few days.  It won't be in chronological  order though.

I do remember yesterday I went down to Kathy's to pick her up and head down to the Kiwanis meeting.  She was on a three hour phone call, poor thing, battling with car rental rip offs and visa.  She talked long enough that we ended up not going to the meeting and went shopping instead.  She had to pop into the TD bank so I popped into the fat lady store which happens to be right there.  I bought a giant white down warm winter coat...I look like a walking duvet in it but its really warm. I then went and got started on my xmas shopping in Bed Bath and Beyond, which happened to be right there.  We had a lot of fun in there.  Kathy discovered PooPourie for the first time.  If you haven't heard of it just google it.  Pretty incredible stuff.

We then went to Jo's for coffee.  She makes the best coffee.  We spent a fun hour there playing with Ainsley.  She is such a hoot and oh so watchable.

I remember too we went to a hockey game with another rickety bus load of really happy game goers.  Jeez what fun that is!!!   And then at the game we sit with a rather sketchy band of brothers.  A few of them look like and smell like some of the people Monte has known in the past.  I always wondered how cops could 'smell' weed on people on those shows.  Now I know.  And I find myself scanning the stands for really fat people, checking out if they fit in the seats, so I know Monte will fit if he ever comes with me.  I found a doozy the other night and Kathy and I both felt that if she fits in the seat there is no doubt Monte will.  Its distracting though.  I haven't been in a town with so many old and or fat people.  In North Van I was pretty much the fattest person there.  Not so much here.

Today was clean house day.  I must have put five thousand things away.  When I am done I always swear I am going to put everything away as I go from now on, but somehow a jillion things still end up all over the place.  Tomorrow is wash the floors and dust and vacuum  up dead flowers.

I remember another thing I did.  Kathy and I went to Canadian Tire and I bought a bunch of outdoor lights.  I bought two, not one, but two 75 dollar strands of copper wiring with tiny little twinkle LED lights along them.  They are a hundred feet, indoor/outdoor lights.  I LOVE them.  I would be happy to just leave them in the cupboard and plug them in now and then and just look at 'em.  I don't know where I am putting them yet.  I also bought four net lights to drape over my ballish looking bushes.  That doesn't sound right.  I figure each year I will add another light dimension  to my outside.

I am seriously going to try to post more often.  The heat that I am getting the comments is a pretty good motivation.  Nothing like a little whining to get the fingers moving and I wouldn't want Shannon to chew her leg off!  TTYL

I CAN'T KEEP UP

Lordy be! Its been busy around here.  I must not wait so long between posts...I don't remember what I did!

I know I went to a couple of hockey games and absolutely had a blast!!  We discovered that if you go to the local pub, the Fox and Hounds, eat a cheap dinner, you can then catch their old rickety bus with a whole load of very loud old hockey fans down to the game.  They bring you back up right after the game.  So easy and holy crow, is it ever fun.  We have done that twice now!  Its like a whole different world there.  Everybody so happy and hollering and eating crap and excited kids...I love it.

I also remember that Monte and I made a massive pot of pea soup.  It was delicious!  I haven't used ham hocks before but I sure will be again.  As usual we made enough for a frigging army!  So tonight I took the time after the game to bag and freeze it.

Thursday night I hopped down and met the grad group I meet each month for dinner somewhere new.  We had a fun time and dinner was actually pretty good.  I had the eggplant parm...yummy.  As we were eating, a whole load of very good looking young men filed in....about 25 of them.  It was the Seattle team that the Blazers played tonight.  It was kind of cool to put faces to those players skating around.

Earlier today I cut the cone off of Molly.  OMG!!  Dog food, the wet kind, had gone down under her chin and had gone rotten.  Talk about stink.  I was gagging!  So into the laundry room sink she went and got a good scrubbing.  She looks so dreadful right now.  Due to flea chasing, I cut all the hair off of her back half and back legs.  Then I cut all the hair off her left side and left front leg.  But I left the hair on the other side.  She looks ridiculous!

I'm changing things up in my kitchen.  Now that we don't have a table downstairs, it has come to my attention that we actually need one there.  So I am going to move the little kitchen dinette set down.  We don't use it ever anyway.  We always end up sitting in the dining room.

On Monday I am calling Shaw and I am going to have them come and put a cable connection in my kitchen.  I am then going to mount a not too large tv on my wall.  Then, and this is the best part, I am going to put two rocking chairs, or armchairs where the table had been, with a little coffee table between them!  So when I am cooking and need to keep an eye on the stove or whatever, I can sit in a comfy chair and drink coffee and watch tv at the same time!!!  I love comfy chairs in kitchens and for the most part I have always had at least one.  Willie is going to have to move though.  Have to figure that one out yet.

No stuff this post.  I haven't had the time to get to those boxes yet.  Tomorrow for sure.  TTYL

OH NO!!!

I am running out of stuff!  I haven't got anything for today.  There is this whole other bunch of file boxes full of my most precious stuff.  Later today I am going to go through them one by one and see if I can find 25 more things.  I also have a few boxes in the guest bedroom I can bumble through.  I will do that later but in the meantime I need to post.  So much has been happening.

Wed:  I don't remember what happened last Wednesday.  I have to sit here and think for a minute.  That was remembrance day, which is ironic because I don't really remember much about the day.  Kathy did invite me to the park to go see the soldier activities and I declined.  So I am thinking I spent the day on my lap top, watching tv, doing laundry, talking on the phone and never got out of my pj's.  Yup...that is what I did.

Thurs:  Shopping.  My least fave thing or almost.  Costco is still a necessity for toilet paper and dog food.  And I am trying really really hard to not bring home any more food.  I need to empty the cupboards and fridges and freezer before I get more.  I also shop at Safeway.  I love my Safeway.  I haven't been a Safeway shopper for years.  But now that I shop for only me and sometimes Monte and company, I can shop there with no guilt.  I really dislike Superstore (shovel list) and now I can indulge my personal choice.  Actually, I lie.  My least fave thing isn't the shopping, its the bringing it all in and putting away.  (big time shovel list).

I spent quite a bit of time today on my lappy doing business.  That stupid condo in Maui is killing me.  The bank account where all the utility pmts and strata etc come out, is impossible to get into online...I am always guessing how much money is in the account.  Bill always took care of the Maui thing.  Thats all he did business wise in the house and it kept him busy!  Car registration (every six months in the states), car insurance (constantly changing), condo insurance, condo taxes, strata forms twice a year,  condo repairs etc....on and on. Thank goodness he was meticulous in his book and record keeping.  It certainly made it easier for me.

Fri:  My busiest day of them all.  First thing I had to kick the printer around and smack it into line.  Even when I got it to work it still had lines all over the papers.  Aryn, being in Maui, can't sign stuff for me so she emailed it to me.  I printed it (I say so easily), made an appointment with the notary, (again I say so easily)  There were no notaries that could take me right away, not surprising.  I actually started to call on Wed.  I finally had to go back to the one I used, and had difficulty with, before.  You would think they had never heard of mortgage discharges before.  And they all insisted that the payout would have to go into their trust accounts and be dispersed from there.  It just adds to the cost but oh well.

So Friday I started with an appointment at the notary and from there I headed to Bestbuy.  First thing in the morning I googled all the appliance places in town and none of them could beat Bestbuy.  So I careened off over there, hopped into the store and within fifteen minutes bought three appliances...plus five year warranties on all of them.  They were all on sale and Friday just accidentally happened to be tax free day!!!  With the taxes I saved I bought the warranties!  They are all Samsung, and stainless steel.  Fridge, stove and dishwasher.  I am so excited.  They are coming in two weeks.  Sue is coming back, bless her, to finish the water line for the fridge.

From there I went to the bank and transferred money to Maui.  Twelve thousand to get nine Canadian.  Sigh.  I really need to get the place sold.  Then I got home about two, just in time to get a phone call from the notary.  I needed to go back.  So back I went and signed papers blah blah blah.  Back home I prepped all the things to make banana trifle and chicken and dumplings for the pot luck at Kathy's before the dance the next night.

Sat:  I got up early, as usual, and started cooking.  I love love love cooking days.  Its just something I have done since before I can remember.  I made the trifle first.  It involves pudding (made the night before), whipped cream, banana bread and a zillion ripe bananas.  Usually I make the banana bread.  I have a fantastic recipe but I just didn't have time.  So I bought it at Safeway.  And it was beautiful and moist, but, they had added almond extract!!  Ewwwww!!!  I was so disappointed!!  I used it anyway...no choice.

Through all of this there was Molly.  Poor scratchy sick Molly.  She literally chewed a hole in her leg and wouldn't stop.  The fleas were gone but she now had sores.  She needed a cone.  I had a brilliant idea.  I got a large purple cottage cheese container and cut out the bottom and cut it down the side.  I got purple with owls on it duct tape and covered all the edges.  I snapped it on her and duct taped it.  It works like a charm but does she ever look ridiculous!!!!  She is healing though!  I have to spoon feed her and fortunately she can stick her tongue out far enough to drink!  As the days go by she is getting more dexterous with it!

I got Monte to drive me to Kathy's in anticipation of imbibing a little that night and to carry the chicken dumplings.  They were in a costco version of Le Cruiset pot, in other words heavy as hell cast iron.  There were eighteen of us and the pot luck dinner was amazing.  It always seems to work out.  Meatballs, chilli, beans, two salads, buns, chicken dumplings and banana trifle.  Dorothy, bless her, drove a bunch of us to the dance downtown and the others met us there.  Jesus Murphy, did we ever have fun.  The crowd was mostly our age, The Intruders is the band that formed in our high school when I went there, NorKam.  They played at all our dances.  We had sooooo much fun.  I could go on all day here but you guys have been to dances.  You know what I mean.  I think this happens only in smaller towns.  We knew half the people there.  God it was just plain fun.  My stomach hurts from laughing!

Sun:  I puttered about the house digging into various areas, trying to find more crap to get rid of.  I also read a bunch and watched the snow fall. It had started the night before and it was deep!  At five I headed down and picked up Kathy and went down to the first of 36 hockey games.  What a blast!!!  Its just so cool to sit in an arena with three thousand plus people having the time of their life. We beat Prince G. 8 to 3 and we shared a foot long hot dog and a poutine.  What more could one want!

And now today its a little quieter.  Monte is loading up all the cans and I am moving a few things in the garage.  I am parking inside until the snow goes or spring comes...whichever happens first.  Sorry for the overly long epistle!  I shall go find stuff to get rid of.  I need 24 more!  TTYL
RIGHT AFTER THIS SHE FACE PLANTED IN THE SNOW AND WHEN SHE LOOKED AT ME THE WHOLE CONE HAD PACKED WITH SNOW AND YOU COULDN'T EVEN SEE HER FACE.  I WOULD HAVE TAKEN A PICTURE BUT I FELT SO BAD FOR HER I PUT THE CAMERA DOWN AND WENT AND HELPED HER.  BUT I COULDN'T QUIT LAUGHING THOUGH!!

NOW SHE REALLY CAN'T HEAR!

I just checked back and I haven't posted any junk since Oct. 28!!!  Well I have a haul today.  Some of its big and some of its tiny.

I'm not sure if I talked about the Kiwanis auction, which was sooooo much fun, but I am going to presume I did.  We had another one last night.  I ended up buying about ten things...ridiculous when I am getting rid of stuff.  I bought (I only remember just a few) a kitchen aid hand held mixer which matches my big stand one, a gold panning kit (super stoked about that one..I LOVE gold panning), 25 dollar (for ten) gift cert for a shoe repair place (much needed), 25 dollar A&W cert...mostly to get the dollar up bidders to shut up, and a years worth of Blazers hockey tickets for two!!!  And I didn't write down what I bought and I don't remember the rest.

Thats it for today.  Heres the pics.  TTYL

FLEAS FLEAS FLEAS AND MORE FLEAS

Oh when will it stop!  This dog picked up more fleas than you can imagine.  And they are making her sick.  Her skin is bright bright red, she has chewed about five spots raw to the point of bleeding and she can't walk straight.  I got a pair of scissors and started cutting her hair so I can at least have a fighting chance at catching the little bastards...which is almost impossible.  So now she looks like a reject dog from a dump.

Monte went to the vet and picked up the right stuff for her but its taking forever to actually work.  We have spent over a hundred dollars on shampoos, sprays and drops. So if any of you people out there in blogland are thinking of getting a dog....be prepared.  Inevitably they get fleas now and then and its a HUGE pain in the ass, expensive and horrible for the dog.  And now I am getting bitten and poor Willy (rabbit) will get them.  What a nightmare.  (shovel list)

I have been so busy the last few days.  One day Kerry came up with Sue, my awesome handywoman.  She removed the cabinet over the fridge and is cutting three inches off the bottom of it and reinstalling.  That way I can go buy a decent refrigerator.  (I swear I can feel a flea in my hair right now).  I made a batch of cinnamon buns before they got here so we sat and visited and had coffee after they were done.  Very enjoyable!  The next day Kathy, Jo and Ainsley came for coffee and blueberries.  Gotta keep blueberries in the freezer, ready for an Ainsley visit.  She is nuts about them!

Yesterday (monday) I made Vietnamese spring rolls...only I made them caesar salad ones.  I love working with rice paper...its fun.  Last night I took them to the Kiwanis Radio Auction.  Holy cats was that ever a hoot!!!  Its so exciting!  You sit there with the phones not ringing then suddenly there is a blast of bidding and it gets so intense and such fun!  I loved it.  We are doing it again tonight!

I have simply not had time to take pics of the next batch of dump stuff.  I have a stack of it out there. But I am going to post this now and sometime today I will get out to the garage and take pics.  TTYL

DOGS, GNOMES AND MEN....THE THREE BIG NO NO'S IN MY LIFE

Dinner in the hotel room was a hoot!!!  We had a large Greek feast delivered...it was awesome but the large greek salad was missing both olives and FETA CHEESE!!!  How can that happen???!!!  But the rest of it was delicious...much better than the stupid hockey game.  Canucks suck...no doubt about it.

We had breakfast over in the lobby the next morning and then headed off...but...not before I discovered that not only had Molly picked up extreme diarrhea from cat food, but a massive dose of fleas.  OMG!!!!  (big time shovel list!!!)  Jeez, she keeps leaping around and biting herself.  When I took a look I couldn't believe the thousands of fleas on her!!!  And that was from only a few hours in that place.  So now I have to go and buy a load of expensive flea crap, bath her a million times and spray her bedding etc...have I mentioned before I DON'T LIKE DOGS!!!  Not enough to make up for this kind of crap.

Then, on our way to Ikea, making a quick stop for my niece, just as we were arriving in the parking lot, we heard that oh so familiar burbly squirt sound.  By the time I got parked, bailed out of the jeep and threw Molly out, the brown liquid had spread down through everything...suitcases, bags of clothes, bags of purchases, coats etc...I was so pissed off I saw red!!!  I just simply don't love dogs enough to put up with their inevitable crap.

It took an hour to clean everything up.  But its going to stink in that jeep for a long time to come. I bought a bunch of big blue bags in Ikea and we put one on the floor on the passenger front side and made her stay down there.  We stopped all along the way to let her out to squirt.

Grrrrr...the fact that absolutely none of this was her fault makes zero difference to me.  I wasn't mad at her...she never knew....but I am just mad in general that I have been stuck with a stupid dog I never wanted to begin with.  Now this morning I got hold of a kennel here in town.  I think this will become her new home away from home.  She can stay there while we go to Nelson.

Other than that,  the trip home was beautiful.  And slowly but surely Monte descended into coughing fits and sore throat and sick etc....he seems to have picked up the flu that is going around right now.  I wonder if its the one the flu shot is for?  LOL!!

We arrived home to a beautifully clean home.  Anne went above and beyond the call of duty I tell you!!!  She even cleaned and organized my garage!!  And that wasn't easy for her.  She has a really bad hip that makes mobility difficult...she is truly an amazing friend.  She was here when we got home and she had her beautiful nine year old granddaughter with her!  I do believe her name is Keo..she is half Japanese and stunningly beautiful.  And so confident and engaging.  What a delight!!  It was so good to see them.

I had a pretty low key rest of the day.  Mail, soup, emails, PVR catchups!  Oh and putting Molly outside...poor dog.  She is miserable.  I gave her an extra big dinner last night and lots of her fave treats.  I bathed her and cuddled her in her towel for ages..she loves that.  She had a pretty calm night, now and then attacking herself chasing those damned fleas.  She is just too old for this poor thing.

I have spent the entire morning googling data usage on cell phones.  There is something wrong with the data usage on Monte's phone.  When I looked at the bill, he used 700 plus mg's one night at 11:54:54.  Really?  No he FRIGGING didn't!!!!!!!  He was asleep with his data turned off.  And I can vouch for that...he was in the same hotel room as me that night.  THEY ARE WRONG!!!  But they are not admitting it.  So I have studied up and I know what that phone would have to be doing to wrack up 700 mega bytes and it WASN'T.  I am pissed off!!!!  But I need knowledge before calling them.  And what I am learning is outrageous.  Those damned carriers!!!  Data does not cost them anything yet they charge us unbelievable amounts....and that only in Canada thank you very much.  We need to start a petition and action to get rid of the CRTC who keeps competition away.  I hate them.  They are also responsible for the shitty tv and radio we have in Canada.  We don't need protecting anymore...we are good enough to stand on our own.  Grrrrrr.....

Gotta bounce.  Things to do and I gotta work off my frustrations..lol!!!  TTYL  PS:  there will be a plethora of get rid of pics tomorrow.  Lots of missed days to make up for.

A FOREST FIRE....WHAT MORE COULD ONE WANT ON A LOVELY TRIP HOME.....(WELL MAYBE ONE LEST CRAPPY FLEA BITTEN OLD LADY DOG!)

FAT MAN AND DOG SH*T

I didn't mention in the last post how noisy the hotel in Port is.  There is absolutely no sound proofing and I just happened to be in a room right across from the ice/pop machine.  Every hour on the hour a cascade of ice would gloriously tumble down the steel innards of the machine...sounding a lot like a machine gun firing off.  And every single time a door in the hallway opened, which was often, my window would rattle loudly, sounding like someone breaking in.  And the people upstairs thumped and banged and dropped stuff.  Jeez!!

So, soon after I posted the last entry, Monte swung by and picked me up.  We went up to Quality Foods, the most amazing grocery store, and bought a few things.  They have an upstairs that houses the most awesome amazing stuff.  Its a cross between a gift shop and a kitchen shop...but its an outlet.  So everything up there is fifty per cent off!!  Plus its a coffee shop...serving Starbucks coffee and goodies.  Fantastic place!  So I went to town and did some serious Xmas shopping!!  I had to keep Tank size in mind.  No room!!!!

We then went to Pat and Angie's.  We spent an awesome afternoon in their super interesting place!  Three rats, four cats (crazy interesting ones), a fish tank full of ....I don't know, and a house full of stuff...I could stay there for days and never see it all!!!  They are such hospitable nice people.  I totally enjoyed myself.  At six we went up to Little Bavaria and had a scrumptious dinner.

I think Bavarian food falls in a category all by itself.  Can you actually get a bad Bavarian Dinner?  I don't think so.  I started with for real, properly done escargot...which probably isn't exactly Bavarian, but who cares?  They were amazing.  Swimming in butter, distinctly garlicky and delicious, I scarfed them all down.  Fortunately its one of those little morsels that others rarely want a taste of!  Hahaha!!

Then the schnitzel...ahhhhh!  I am not really eating meat much anymore but I ordered the schnitzel covered with shrimps and scallops (well one scallop) in a white wine sauce.  Served with spetzle (it was only so so unfortunately) and mounds of red sweet cabbage.    I sent the left overs with Monte!

He dropped me back at the motel.  It was around ten.  For the next two hours I was bombarded with hall noise.  Its funny, I read trip advisor reviews and they mentioned a number of times how people would hang out in the hall way and yell and talk and laugh and just generally be noisy.  They weren't wrong.  The room next to me hosted a gathering of men.  Nice ones...no swearing or obnoxious convo, but LOUD!!  Finally around one in the morning I phoned the front desk and they came down and put an abrupt stop to it.

Then at six in the morning someone upstairs got up.  Holy Crap!!  He thundered about up there, dropping stuff, floor cracking and creaking, showered and used the john,  unfortunately I could hear it all!!!  As he left his room, I did too...to take Molly out.  Too late but more about that in a minute.  We met in the lobby.  The guy was twice the size of Monte...and thats saying something.  He had to be at least six hundred pounds, huffing and puffing and waddling.  No wonder the noise was huge!

But back to Molly.  She was laying on the bed.  I was kind of reluctant to let her.  The bedding was snowy white and beautiful.  I seriously wanted to steal the bedspread!  But, it was the dog room and I payed extra for it.  She was laying right beside me and as I was listening to the noise upstairs in total wonderment, I suddenly heard another noise, right beside me...a squishy burbly noise....one I recognised.  Damn damn damn!!!  I lifted Molly's back end up by her tail and yup, a great big awful stinky mess.  Thanks to all the freaking cat food she ate the day before at Pat and Angie's!

I scooped her up and threw her into the bathroom and went back and scooped up that lovely bedspread.  Back into the bathroom and quickly washed out (I say so easily) the bedspread.  Then, much to my dismay, Molly had managed to spread her smelly hairy mess all over the bathroom...floor, behind the toilet (where she was hiding), all over the wall and toilet and side of the bathtub.  What a mess!!  I put her in the sink and told her to stay and then cleaned the whole bathroom.  Next I washed her lower half and got her all clean.  Then we went outside, same time as big guy upstairs.  Ach Jeez!!  Dogs!!

Monte picked me up before checkout and we hit a few spots before leaving town.  We had an uneventful trip to the ferry.  And once again things happen.

I heard a dog yelping and barking.  I spotted a guy with two shepherds in his back yard just above where we were in line for the ferry.  He was mad at one of his dogs.  So he grabbed him by the scruff, dragged him up to the fence, got over top of him and yelled and yelled then hit him on the head as he yelled then started to kick the dog's back end!!!  I poked Monte and said look!!!!  Suddenly Monte bellered out the window (and can he ever bellow...he is really really loud!) "CUT THE F*CK OUT!!!  LEAVE THAT DOG ALONE!!!"  The guy immediately yelled back, "SHUT THE F*CK UP!!!!  GO BACK TO THE MAINLAND!!"  To which Monte yelled back, "I'M CALLING THE COPS...HILLBILLY!!!"

Which he did, the non emergency number.  They knew the house and the guy...as did the SPCA.  They called Monte too and got all the info they could from us.  They are going to send someone out today or tomorrow to teach the guy how to properly discipline the dogs and check them out to see how they are.

Last night I just stayed at the motel.  I had supper a la vending machine...spicy noodles and Oh Henry!  Sometime during the evening I dozed off. When I awoke I saw I missed phone calls and my phone is really loud!  And Monte popped in, leaving the jeep and I never even woke up!!! He called me and called me but I wouldn't wake up!  Scary!

Today we had lunch with Clare and Tish.  April and Myles came down and Monte was there too.  What a lovely lovely time.  I just love those two.  We had such a wonderful time with them.  I so so wish we lived closer.

Now I am in the room watching hockey.  April and Myles are coming down at seven and we are going to order Greek food and eat on the bed and watch more hockey.  I love this!!!!  TTYL
