GREEN FLASHES AND DISLOCATED SHOULDERS (NOT OURS!)

I didn't get a chance to blog last night so I shall do it this morning.  Another stellar day!!!  We barrelled out of here yesterday morning in time to get to McD's for breakfast.  Yum!! Then we hightailed it to Makawao (cowboy town).  On the way we stopped at Rainbow Park.  This is the little park where Bill and I had our New Years Eve Day barbecue.  I think this is one of the prettiest places on Maui.  I took a few pics and we walked around the serene little place.

In Makawao we walked just one side of the town, dipping in and out the wee stores looking at everything.  That little town is so interesting and friendly.  I never get tired of it.

We had decided that yesterday would be a beach day so  we headed back home, grabbed our beach stuff and down to Kameoli we went.  Awesome beach.  But...the waves were really big.  Not so big people weren't going in but too big for little kids, old people and us.  It was really fun to watch.  Some of the waves were huge, unexpectedly, so people would get tumbled, slammed and bikini tops yanked off (for real!!)  There were a couple of girls in their early twenties screaming, attracting attention and generally being really really annoying, at the edge and then in a little further, jumping the waves.  Everyone was getting annoyed with them.  Suddenly they were picked up and slammed and when they popped up, their bikini tops were either askew, revealing things, or completely off.  So funny!!!  I didn't see it happen, Aryn and April and told me about it.

I was too busy watching an older guy and his friend playing in the water.  They and their wives had just arrived and set up beach camp right beside us.  They were absolutely having the time of their life out there jumping and diving through the waves.  Suddenly, that same wave that hit the bikini girls, hit the men.  By the time it was through one of them had either a dislocated shoulder or a broken arm, we couldn't tell.  All I know is he came back up to his little area in severe pain and had to lay down a while before going to the lifeguard for help.  They swaddled him and sent him off to a doctor.  We felt so bad for him and them.

After attaining an awesome glow, we headed home and went over to the pool.  So much fun.  April is like a little fish and played in the pool almost the whole time.  Aryn and I sat in the deck chairs and slapped flies.  I forgot to take my fly swatter with me.  They DRIVE ME FREAKING CRAZY!!!!!  Flies are the sole reason why I probably will never go back to Australia.  We then walked down to  the beach with Bill to watch the sunset.  I always keep my camera at the ready as the sun disappears, just in case there is a green flash.  And last nite there was!!!  If you had a zoom lens or binoculars you would really have clearly seen it.  I took a picture but it doesn't show up as clearly as it did in the camera.  I was so excited.  I will post it but it isn't as noticeable as it was in the camera :(

I TOOK THIS AFTER THE SUN HAD DISAPPEARED, A SPLIT SECOND AFTER
So today is bittersweet.  They go home tomorrow and I am surely going to miss them.  I am so so glad Cookie and Brian are coming on Monday.  I can't wait til they get here and I won't have that hollow feeling in my tummy with my kids not here.  So today is  going to be kind of sad but also exciting.  They have a plan for today, a very cool one and I shall report on it tonight!  TTYL
