I stupidly left a little brown flat bag in the car. In that bag was a most beautiful glass necklace I purchased on the R2H (local for road to hana). Brian, bless his heart, cleaned the car thoroughly yesterday and I bet he thought it was garbage...it looked like it. They have taken the car and have driven up the volcano. Their plan is to hike down into the crater a ways. I can't handle the altitude so Bill and I stayed behind, to do a little packing and give them some time to enjoy on their own. I will have to check the car when they get back.
Nope, it wasn't in the car. My own stupid fault. I should have brought it in when we got back. I had barrelled in to use the loo and by the time I got back the car was all locked up and emptied. The next day when Brian was cleaning I never gave it a thought and it was in a crumpled little brown bag. I should know better by now. Oh well, I shall have to find another one later in Lahaina!
They had a fantastic hike by the sounds of it. Right down into the crater. Here, Cookie is going to tell you about it here: Temp dropped to 51F by the time we got to the top and then we started our hike down into the crater. It was so beautiful in a rugged landscape and the colours were amazing! We hiked down a marked trail for 55 minutes, along with other hikers and people on horses[the only way down! next time]. Then we had to hike back up and my silent mantra was 'there is a car at the end of this'. I made it! and in great time! 10 minutes longer then the trip down. not bad for a senior! and I have say... it was worth it! Pictures can not show the majestic beauty of this amazing place.
Now we are off to Lahaina!! I will report back later!
We are back and full and happy! It just happened that it was the Chinese new year and such a show they put on. The Lion dancing was amazing. All ages, from little kids to older folks, men and women all participated. So colourful and fun.
After the dancing we wandered on down the street to Famous Dave's BBQ and it was so good we were shocked! Every single thing we ordered was cooked to perfection and for a restaurant on Front Street the prices were more than reasonable. So fun and good.
COOKIE IS ABOUT TO GIVE MONEY TO THE LION...THROUGH ITS MOUTH
THIS LITTLE SCARED ONE IS BEING PROTECTED BY GRAMMA...WHO LOOKS A LOT MORE SCARY THAN THE LION!
STELLA ARTOIS!!
SHE GOT THE BIGGEST BURGER EVER..SERVED ON A COOKIE SHEET
SHE ATE IT ALL TOO!!
PURPLE SARONG FOR A PURPLE BATHING SUIT
Then some more shopping and a wander down the street, a few more purchases and now we are home. Tomorrow I do believe Brian is golfing and we are going to Kahalui for one more shopping trip! TTYL
