CATCH UP TIME

It is funny how sitting in a car all day can make you tired!  You would think one would be all rested up but by the time we got our hotel rooms we would be bagged!

The first day after leaving Kamloops, we headed for Osoyoos, about a slow days drive away.  BC is truly beautiful and we enjoyed the trip a lot.  Now that we know that there is a possibility of a move, and we can move anywhere we like, we are looking at the passing countryside with a different eye.  Vernon is totally beautiful!  We sat up high at a view point overlooking Kalamalka lake.  I had made a huge chicken sandwich each for lunch and we had our picnic there.  But....again looking at it as a possible place to live, I am not sure.   W

NUMBER 13!!  OURS
e had decided to find a Starbucks and get a coffee to have with lunch.  By the time we drove all over Vernon, and found it, Vernon got crossed off our list.  No town should be that freaking busy late morning on a Monday.  What the hell!!??  We could hardly move!  And the one thing that moving from Vancouver is going to give us is freedom from awful bottled up traffic.  So, no Vernon.  But its a lovely place to get through and stop at a lookout!

We proceeded down through the Okanogan, Kelowna, Penticton and Okanogan Falls.  We stopped in OK Falls.  This is the little spot that Kevin and Tandy are moving to.  I phoned him and got the address of the place they are moving to and I gotta say...it was stupendously beautiful.  Her mom owns the condo they are moving into, temporarily for a year or so.  The condo was in the most beautiful setting imaginable.  This makes me feel a whole lot better about their move!  They are going to be living right on a lake...so beautiful....and right smack between Dirty Laundry winery and Meyers winery..what more could one want??

We drove on from there down through wine country..Oliver then Osoyoos.  I personally think Osoyoos (which is almost on the American border) is one of BC's most beautiful little towns.  I love it there, but we wouldn't consider ever living there.  It is way too far away from three of my immediate kids.  And way too difficult to get to the airport to fly to Maui.  We found a fantastic motel on the lake.  We found a lovely place for dinner and then back to the room...to sit on the deck, enjoy the awesome view and facebook a little!  After lolling about in the morning, watching junk tv, drinking coffee, again facebooking, we checked out late morning and headed south.

We took a slow drive to Winthrop, a modern day recreated wild west town.  It reminded me of Cody Wyoming.  A somewhat contrived very quaint little town, it was very deserted.  This wee town is obviously between ski season and summer traffic season.  It was very quiet and deserted, which suited me just fine.  We got ourselves the most amazing chalet right on a running river just outside our deck, and a lovely hot tub right there.  We got into that right away and it was incredible.  Cool drizzly cold outside, hot hot water, babbling running river, deer grazing on the hill right there...so wonderful.  We went out for dinner and you will see the pics below.  Why do I always get the embarrassing meals?  Jeez!  Tomorrow I will post about our trip home.  And I will post some amazing pictures of some of the scenery we went through.  Astounding stuff!  TTYL
