ANOTHER SURPRISE

All in all this ended up being the best weekend.  Monte's home is so warm and comfy.  First of all,  it smelled good.  My experience with a guy's place, that isn't always the case!  It was pretty clean, considering he had no kitchen sink from about the time he moved in.  And his fridge was cleaner than mine ever is.  Plus, when the three of us sat around tooling around on our various forms of technology, he was right jiggy with that.  No guilt!

After the burning episode we got back to the house in time to go for dinner.  This is probably one of the few towns where you can go to one of the nicest places in town for dinner in clothes that have mud streaks across the back of your jeans from when you get out of the truck.  Jeez!  I didn't know they were there until I saw the back of Bill's pants on the way into the restaurant.

We had a lovely dinner.  I had prawns and crab and oysters!  Bill and Eric had prime rib and Monte ordered fajitas but after only eating one (there were four tortillas and a heaping  hot iron skillet of steak goodies) he was full.  Some things never change.  He never once drank more than 2 oz of milk in one feeding as a baby, not once.  So flipping annoying.  We had a whole lot of fun there and got to know Eric.

After getting home they and a girl they know, Jayla, all took off for the bush with a truck load of gas, chainsaw and a small amount of wood.  So, they are going off at ten at night, to this place where Monte already almost rolled his truck, its all muddy, they are going to fall dead trees for wood, oh and Monte took his guitar.  And...I overheard Eric tell Monte that they had to stop at the liquor store because Jayla wanted to drink some as it was her night off (she works at 7/11).  Fortunately, Monte doesn't drink and drive, but this still spelled disaster to me.  We just left and went to the hotel for a nice relaxing sleep. (Right!)  But then I am always surprised when Monte is unscathed and alive half the time.

Yesterday, April phoned to say that she overheard a message being left on our phone at home.  I was to call Antonia as soon as possible on Stan's cell.  When I did it was to find out that she wanted Monte's phone number and address as they were going to be in Port that afternoon and thought that maybe they would try to visit him.  She had no idea we were there.  She was shocked and delighted when she found out.  They came over for the afternoon, and Eric and Jayla dropped by and we had an awesome afternoon.

THIS IS JAYLA, WHO TURNED OUT TO BE THE NICEST MOST FUN PERSON.  NOTE THE WET JEANS...ERIC AND SHE HAD JUST BEEN OUT SHOOTING RIFLES IN THE GRAVEL PIT OUT BY CAMERON DIVISION.

THIS IS ERIC..SUCH AN INTERESTING CHARACTER...FOR ALL HIS 22 YEARS HE HAS DONE SO MUCH....HE EVEN LIVED IN JAPAN FOR A WHILE.

MOLLY HAS, AS USUAL, FOUND A WARM LAP TO SIT ON
MONTE'S PLACE...PRETTY CLEAN

We left around six and headed for the Travelodge in Courtenay, about three blocks from Kevin's place. Now its early early morning and Bill is out running the dogs.  Should be a fun day with the grandchildren today.  TTYL
